Fencing Organisations

The International Fencing Federation (FIE) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing body of fencing.

British Fencing is the National Governing Body for fencing in the UK.

Southern Fencing is the regional fencing organisation. Hampshire residents fall within this region and should normally select it on their British Fencing membership application form. It is important to remember that a fencer will normally only be allowed to enter regional competitions in the region they have specified on their British fencing membership form. This is particularly true for competitions such as the regional qualifying competitions for the British Youth Championships.

Hampshire Fencing Union

Hampshire Fencing Union is a the recognised body for fencing in Hampshire. Anybody living in Hampshire or affiliated to a fencing club in Hampshire can attend our events.

Hampshire Fencing Union is run according to this constitution which was adopted at the Annual General Meeting of November 2017.

Hampshire Fencing Union is run entirely by volunteers. We are always pleased to have assistance, so if you think you can help out in any way then please let us know.

The committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting, which is normally held in March every year. Please note that the Officers (Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer) hold their positions for a three year term.
